For example, the diagrams, summaries, or highlights of a particular pattern or other topic often don't appear on the same page as that pattern; they generally spill over onto the next page where the next topic begins, creating confusion for the student. The diagrams and drawings are uninspired and utilitarian in feel. There are sections where Maciocia makes an interesting case for his own personal treatment style, as in the chapter on the 8 Extraordinary Meridians, but devotes less space to other treatment options, frustrating for the student who needs that information.
